My Interior Design career took me from 1989 when I qualified until 2015 when I retired. I always preferred to specialise in residential interiors and whilst in England and because of my training I worked mostly in period properties, putting back their style with a touch of the modern too. I was never short of work and I was even sought after in different parts of England, mostly by people who had multiple homes. I worked a bit in Europe too, all of which was hugely rewarding. I also completed many commercial projects ranging from many hotels, restaurants which I preferred, as well as some shops big and small. It was a hectic and busy time during which I was fortunate to have acclaim, especially working my way up to becoming a Fellow of the Institute of Interior Designers, a big accolade which opened many doors for me. After I moved to Canada it was hard because my qualifications were not recognised. Eventually though my company worked on a medical building and various small offices as well as high end houses and condos. .Unfortunately I missed so much the period buildings of Europe dating back, many times, to several hundred years of splendor. They were very challenging and rewarding too.
